Rider Story: Kevin Decker
Kingsville MX (formerly Challenge Traxx)
Riding Years: 1997 – Present
Kevin Decker’s Kingsville MX story starts the way a lot of the best motocross stories do—lost, curious, and chasing dirt.
After moving from California to Missouri in 1996, Kevin heard rumors of a motocross track somewhere near a small town called Kingsville. One day, he jumped in his car and went looking. While driving through town, he got pulled over for speeding. Instead of a ticket, the officer gave him a warning—and directions.
“Just look for the tower with the motorcycle on top.”
It was a weekday when Kevin finally found the track. No riders. No noise. Just a motocross facility sitting quietly in the Missouri countryside. After relocating to a brand-new state, the feeling of finding a place to ride again hit hard.
That was 29 years ago.
Since then, Kevin has watched Kingsville MX evolve year after year—better track prep, better racing, deeper friendships, and a lifetime of memories that still continue today.

Kevin Decker and Kyle Sharp on the starting line!
Bikes Through the Years
- 2019 Yamaha YZ250F
- 2025 KTM 450 SX-F
Favorite Track Features
Two stand out the most:
- The massive super-long tabletop from the early 2000s (and its smaller modern version today)
- A whoop section from years past that Kevin still remembers as one of his favorites
He’s ridden the track in both directions and lived through multiple eras of its layout—each one leaving its mark.
Memories That Stick
For Kevin, it’s never been just about racing.
It’s bringing his daughters to night races.
It’s friends made over decades.
It’s girlfriends, gate drops, practice laps, and countless hours spent at the track.
“The memories and the friends I’ve made are almost countless.”
While he never camped overnight at the track, the pit-side moments still stand out—especially winter days when RJ would light a fire and everyone gathered around, swapping stories and warming up between motos.
Team Wohlberg
When Kevin talks about Kingsville, one name always comes up: Team Wohlberg.
What stands out most to him isn’t just the racing—it’s the people.
“They take the time to come over, say hi, and actually talk.”
Kevin has known RJ, Ryan, and Troy for over a quarter century—and Kolton for much of that time as well. To him, they’re not just track owners or promoters. They’re family.
“Absolutely the best people in motocross. My passion for the sport has been better because of Team Wohlberg.”
Still Riding. Still Home.
Nearly three decades later, Kevin Decker is still part of the Kingsville MX story. Same dirt. Same passion. Same place that felt like home the first day he found it—thanks to a small-town police officer and a tower with a motorcycle on top.
