Every pro you see on TV—including Austin Forkner and Benny Bloss—once sat at a starting gate for the very first time. They were just as nervous as you are. At Kingsville MX, we’ve been the ‘First Track’ for thousands of Missouri riders over the last 40 years. Here is everything you need to know to move from the stands to the dirt.
Step 1: The Gear You don’t need a factory-tuned bike to start. You just need a safe one. Ensure your helmet is DOT/Snell approved, and you have boots, goggles, gloves, and a jersey/pants.
Step 2: The Sign-Up When you arrive, head to the scoring tower. Our staff will help you find the right class based on your age and bike size. We have classes for everyone—from 50cc “Begginer” ranks to the Vet classes.
Step 3: The Riders Meeting Before the engines start, we meet at the tower. We’ll go over the flags, the track conditions, and the schedule. Listen close—this is where you learn the ‘rules of the road.’
Step 4: The Gate This is it. Take a deep breath. Look at the pin, not the gate. When it drops, you’re officially a motocross racer. Welcome to the family.
