For Cory Richard, Kingsville MX has never been just a place to race. It is where he grew up, built lifelong friendships, and eventually watched his own sons discover the sport he loves.

Cory raced at Kingsville MX—formerly Challenge Traxx—from 2000 through 2024. His first experience at the track came during a night race when he was only 9 or 10 years old. That first race marked the beginning of more than two decades of memories at Kingsville.

Over the years, Cory had several favorite bikes, including a 2004 Yamaha YZ250F, a 2013 Suzuki RM-Z450, and a 2018 KTM 350. He also remembers when the track’s big tabletop was the feature everyone looked forward to hitting.

While Cory has plenty of great racing memories, the people he met at Kingsville are what stand out most.

“Since I’ve been an adult and a parent, watching my sons grow up racing here and the people we’ve met have been the best,” Cory said.

Some of those memories were created on the track. Others happened long after the final checkered flag.

One unforgettable pit story involves watching Ryan and Hadley “rip beers off the exhaust of Frank’s 450” at about 1 a.m.—the kind of late-night camping memory that could only happen during a motocross weekend.

The Wohlberg family also became an important part of Cory’s story at Kingsville.

“The whole Wohlberg crew are just fantastic people,” he said. “RJ is the nicest and most patient track owner ever. Not enough can be said about him.”

Cory has also watched Ryan Wohlberg pour his heart and soul into the track over the years—work that Cory and countless other riders and families deeply appreciate.

His friendship with Troy Wohlberg grew especially close while their sons, Reid and Jaxon, raced against each other nearly every weekend on 50cc and 65cc bikes. Watching the boys battle, improve, and push one another became one of Cory’s favorite chapters at the track.

“Watching the two of them progress and push each other every weekend are some of the memories I will remember the most,” he said.

Cory’s story reflects what has made Kingsville MX special for more than 40 years. The motorcycles and track layouts may change, but the friendships, families, and memories created there endure for generations.
